I have this really strong desire to empower the everyday homeschool Momma to have the confidence to tackle music education. Let's be honest; math, writing, spelling, and so many other things feel like they are just simply more important. I'm no Ms. Rachel, but I am passionate about empowering you to teach your child music.

The more you dive into music, the more you realize how interconnected it is with every other subject. Here are a few examples...
Math: As baby's we teach to feel the beat and maybe walk around fast or slow based on what we hear. The next step is to walk to the actual beat. But you guessed it, the next step is to start counting. 1-2-3-4 :) I always say, if your child can count to 4 they can start piano!
Reading: Music is read from left to right just like words. If you put a series of shapes from left to right and have your child touch them and say the name, guess what! That is a basic thing in reading music. We read symbols from left to right!
Science: The amount of science experiments related to music is crazy! Sound waves, echoes, whispering, shouting... discuss where the sound comes from and how it is created!
The ideas are endless!
I want to make sure I tell you that not every kid has to play piano, or play any instrument "private lesson style". Sure, some kids show a strong propensity for it, but don't feel like you are failing if that isn't a possibility for you and your family.
I urge every homeschool momma to start incorporating music into your lessons. Don't just put them in front of a screen, move to the beat with your children! It's good the soul!
